Terms of Service
Effective October 21, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Ellis AI Labs LLC ("we", "us") for ELI-Brief: the apps for iPhone and Android, ELI-Brief on the web at elibrief.app, and this website. By creating an account or using ELI-Brief, you agree to them. If you use ELI-Brief for an organization, you confirm you're allowed to agree for it. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
1. Who can use ELI-Brief
You must be at least 18 and able to make a binding agreement. One account is for one person.
2. What ELI-Brief does
ELI-Brief turns your recordings, notes, files and calendars into transcripts, notes, to-dos, plans and recaps, and answers questions about them. It uses AI, and AI makes mistakes: it can mishear words, miss a to-do, or get a date or a name wrong. Check anything important before you rely on it. ELI-Brief doesn't give legal, medical, financial or other professional advice.
3. Your account
Keep your password, your authenticator and your recovery codes safe. You're responsible for what happens in your account. Tell us right away at justin@ellisailabs.com if you think someone else has used it.
4. Subscriptions, trials and billing
- Price: $10 a month or $100 a year, in US dollars, plus sales tax where it applies. Stripe bills you in advance for each period.
- Free trial: new customers get 14 days free, once per person. You add a card when you start, and you're charged when the trial ends unless you cancel before then.
- Renewal: your subscription renews automatically until you cancel.
- Cancelling: cancel any time in ELI-Brief on the web, under Settings → Subscription → Manage billing. You keep ELI-Brief until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Refunds: we don't refund partial periods, except where the law requires it. If something went wrong, email us and we'll make it right where we can.
- Failed payments: if a payment doesn't go through, ELI-Brief pauses until it's paid. Your notes are kept while Stripe retries the card.
- Price changes: we'll email you at least 30 days before a new price applies to you. It takes effect at your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
- Free codes: we may give some people a code for free use. A code is personal, can't be sold, may run for a set time, and we may end it. If you use a code while you have a subscription, the subscription is cancelled so you aren't charged again. Email us if you'd like a refund of the unused time.
5. Your content
Your recordings, notes, files and everything ELI-Brief makes from them belong to you. You give us permission to store and process them only to provide ELI-Brief to you. We don't use them to train AI models, for advertising, or for anything else. You can export them at any time.
6. Recording other people
You're responsible for following the laws that apply to recording conversations and handling other people's information. Many places, including Washington State, require everyone in a private conversation to agree before it's recorded. Get any consent you need, and don't use ELI-Brief where recording isn't allowed.
7. Acceptable use
Don't use ELI-Brief to break the law or anyone's rights; to record or process information you have no right to; to try to get into accounts, systems or data that aren't yours; to probe, disrupt or overload the service; to copy, reverse engineer or resell it; or to help anyone else do these things.
8. Other services
ELI-Brief can connect to services you use, like Plaud and your Google, Microsoft or Zoho calendars, and uses Stripe for payments. Their own terms apply to them, and we aren't responsible for them. ELI-Brief is an independent product and isn't affiliated with Plaud.
9. Availability and changes
We work to keep ELI-Brief running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. It may be down for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. Keep your own copies of anything critical (Settings → Export). We may change or improve ELI-Brief. If we ever stop offering it, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and time to export your content.
10. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Account → Delete account (see Delete your account). We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that doesn't pay, or that puts other people or the service at risk. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to export your content.
11. Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, ELI-Brief is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
12. Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, Ellis AI Labs isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim about ELI-Brief is limited to the greater of what you paid us for ELI-Brief in the 12 months before the claim and $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
13. Indemnity
If someone makes a claim against us because of content you recorded or uploaded, or because you broke these terms or the law, you'll cover our reasonable costs of that claim, to the extent the law allows.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts in King County, Washington, unless the law where you live says otherwise. Before going to court, please email us. Most problems can be sorted out quickly.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here with its date, and email you at least 30 days before a change that matters takes effect. If you keep using ELI-Brief after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can cancel and delete your account.
