Your recordings and privacy

Does ELI-Brief send my recordings anywhere?

Recordings you make in the app go straight to your own encrypted space on our servers; with a Plaud recorder, ELI-Brief fetches them from your Plaud account. They're turned into text on our own hardware, and the recording itself is deleted once it's transcribed. The AI that reads them runs on our own hardware: nothing goes to an AI company. Calendar changes go only to calendars you connect, and only when you approve them.

Can anyone at ELI-Brief read my notes?

Your notes live in your own encrypted database. Our support tools work on your account (unlocking it, or resetting your authenticator once we've confirmed it's you), not on your notes, and every action they take is recorded in an audit log. You can export everything, or delete your account, at any time.

Do I need permission to record people?

Often, yes. Many places, including Washington State, require everyone in a private conversation to agree before it's recorded. Ask at the start of a meeting; it's also good manners. You're responsible for following the law where you record.

Using it

Do I need a recorder?

No. Record right in the app or in your web browser. If you already have a Plaud recorder, connect it and its recordings come in too. You can also add typed or dictated notes, files and lecture videos.

Which calendars work?

Google Calendar (as many accounts as you like), Microsoft 365 and Outlook.com, and Zoho Calendar. You can also add a calendar someone shares as a link, like a school's.

Why isn't something on Today?

Today shows your own to-dos that are due today or late. A to-do due later shows on its own day (in the Calendar). Something another person promised you shows under Follow up once it's due.

Is there an Android app?

It's on its way to Google Play. Until then, use ELI-Brief in your phone's web browser: same account, same sign-in.

Can I make the text bigger?

Yes: Settings โ†’ Text size, from Standard to Largest. It adds to your phone's own text size setting.

Your subscription

How does the free trial work?

Choose monthly or yearly and add a card. ELI-Brief emails you a link to create your account, and you have 14 days to use everything. You're charged only when the trial ends, and you can cancel before then from Settings in ELI-Brief on the web. One free trial per person.

What happens if I cancel?

You keep ELI-Brief until the end of the period you've paid for. After that your account is paused, not deleted: your notes and to-dos are kept for 60 days in case you come back, and you can export them. After 60 days they're deleted for good.

How do I delete my account?

Settings โ†’ Account โ†’ Delete account, in the app or at elibrief.app. Here's what that deletes, and what to do if you can't sign in.

Plaud

Is ELI-Brief made by Plaud?

No. ELI-Brief is an independent product by Ellis AI Labs. It works with Plaud recordings through your own Plaud account, and deleting something in ELI-Brief never deletes it in Plaud.
